We have the expertise!
We have our own equine hospital facilities at the award-winning
'Somerford Park Equestrian Centre' at Somerford, situated between Congleton and
Holmes Chapel. Radiography We have a fully portable X-Ray unit which can be used either at the your yard or at our clinic. We are using the latest high quality digital CR Radiography equipment to give us wonderfully detailed image quality to a definition of 10 pixels per mm. The images are recorded onto computer for later manipulation, emails etc and can be archived onto disc.
Ultrasonography We have several ultrasound scanners, used to image soft tissue structures. We have a portable machine that we can bring to you. We also have a clinic based digital scanner which we are confident gives us the best quality images in Cheshire. These images can be stored on a computer and archived for future reference.
Video-endoscopy We have a 1.3 metre video endoscope. This is used for imaging the equine upper respiratory tract, larynx, and trachea. The images are shown on a lap top and can be stored or recorded as photos or videos.
Dentistry Our vets are very keen on the treatment of routine and non routine dental problems. We all carry a good dental kit with us - including clean sharp rasps, head torches, full mouth speculums, and dental record charts. We also have motorised tools to remove large dental overgrowths, and molar extracting forceps for removing diseased teeth. Mark Tabachnik is our first port of call for dental disorders.
Stud medicine Somerford Park is a BEVA approved AI clinic. We have room for visiting mares and a set of stocks for routine examinations. We offer stud packages for getting mares in foal both at the clinic and at your yard. john Yarwood, Mark Tabachnik and Claire Hodgson spend a lot of the summer doing AI.
Surgery We have a knock down / recovery box and a fully padded operating table. Both John Yarwood and Claire Phillips are keen surgeons, and we do a lot of routine surgery "in house". for more technical procedures, we bring in specialist surgeon, ECVS Diplomat Cedric Chan.
