A 1989 graduate of Bristol Veterinary School, Cedric has worked in both first opinion and referral equine practice in the UK, Europe, Australia and SE Asia since qualification. He completed a 3 year post-graduate equine surgical residency position at Glasgow Veterinary School (1992-1995) gaining the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons (RCVS) Certificate in Equine Surgery (Orthopaedics) in 1995 and became a Diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (DiplECVS) in 2002.  He is one of only 19 RCVS & European Recognised Specialists in Equine Surgery in the UK.

 

In 2002, Cedric formed NW Equine Referrals, UK & France, an equine consultancy practice based in Cheshire. The practice covers 12 specific equine clinics in the UK (from the Borders to Sussex) and France (from Normandy to the Cote D’Azur).

 

His specialist skills with all types of horses (from Thoroughbreds in-training and Olympic performance horses to general riding horses & ponies) include advanced lameness investigation and treatment, general surgery (in particular, wound reconstruction), orthopaedic surgery (in particular, diagnostic and surgical arthroscopy, management of chronic synovial sepsis) and soft tissue surgery (in particular, head region, upper respiratory tract laser surgery, colic surgery and laparoscopy).

 

 

He is very proactive in continuing education and continuing professional development (CPD) as both a course organiser and lecturer for the British Equine Veterinary Association (BEVA)/CPD Solutions/private clinics and speaking at BEVA Annual Congresses/Day Meetings and client evenings. Cedric has published papers in the Veterinary Record, Equine Veterinary Education, In Practice, various textbooks and has peer reviewed papers for Equine Veterinary Journal.

In 2005 he was invited to become an RCVS Certificate Examiner and Advisor for the CertEP, CertES(Orth) and CertES(Soft Tissue) post-graduate qualifications.

 

 

Cedric was a member of the international veterinary team at the Athens 2004 Olympic & Paralympic Games for all the equestrian events. He has been invited by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to be a member of the team again for the forthcoming Beijing 2008 Olympic & Paralympic Games.
